On-Site Room Consultation
We come to your room, measure it, listen in it, and tell you exactly what we would do — what to treat, what to leave alone, what it will cost, and what isn't worth spending money on. You get that assessment whether or not you ever buy a panel from us.
Most rooms do not need what the internet says they need. We have walked into plenty of spaces where the owner was about to buy forty panels and needed eleven, and plenty where the real problem was the desk position and no amount of foam was going to fix it.
What happens on the visit
One hour for a single room, two hours for multiple rooms — with you there throughout.
- We measure the room — dimensions, ceiling height, construction, and anything structural that limits what is actually possible
- We listen at your mix position and identify what is genuinely wrong: flutter echo, modal buildup, an asymmetric first reflection, a null at the listening position
- We locate first reflection points, corner loading and cloud positions, and mark them
- We look at what you already own and tell you honestly whether it is doing anything
- We talk through fabric, colour and mounting, because a room you do not want to sit in is not a finished room
- We photograph and sketch what we are proposing before we leave
What you get afterwards
- A written summary and treatment plan — panel type, thickness, quantity and position
- An itemised price for the panels, and for installation if you want us to do it
- A phased order if you are not doing it all at once, with what to do first and why
The fee comes back to you
If you go on to order panels and installation totalling $5,000 or more, we credit the full consultation fee against that order. At that level the visit costs you nothing.
If you do not proceed, you keep the plan and the measurements, and you are welcome to build it yourself or take it to someone else. We would rather you fix your room than not.
How long we need, and how far we drive
Two things set the price, and you already know both of them.
How many rooms. A single room takes about an hour on site. Two or more rooms, or a room plus an adjoining live space or booth, takes about two.
How far we are driving. We are based in Chatsworth, in the north-west San Fernando Valley. The zones below are grouped by typical drive time from our shop, not by distance on a map — in Los Angeles those are very different things.
Zone 1 — typically under 30 minutes each way
Chatsworth · Northridge · Granada Hills · Porter Ranch · Winnetka · Canoga Park · West Hills · Woodland Hills · Tarzana · Encino · Reseda · Van Nuys · North Hills · Mission Hills · Sylmar · Calabasas · Hidden Hills · Simi Valley
Zone 2 — typically 30 to 60 minutes each way
Sherman Oaks · Studio City · Toluca Lake · North Hollywood · Valley Village · Burbank · Glendale · Pasadena · Hollywood · West Hollywood · Beverly Hills · Westwood · Brentwood · Santa Monica · Culver City · Venice · Downtown LA · Malibu · Agoura Hills · Westlake Village · Thousand Oaks · Moorpark · Santa Clarita · Valencia
Pricing
| Zone 1 | Zone 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Single room — 1 hour on site | $349 | $449 |
| Multiple rooms — 2 hours on site | $499 | $599 |
Drive times are typical, not peak-hour. If you are on the boundary between two zones, choose the nearer one — we will tell you if it needs changing, and we will never quietly upgrade you.
Further out?
Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, the South Bay, Long Beach, Orange County, the Inland Empire, San Diego and the Antelope Valley are all outside these zones. Email info@valleyacoustics.com with your location and room count and we will quote the visit properly — we go further than this regularly.
Not in Southern California?
Book the phone consultation instead. An hour with your photos and dimensions in front of us gets you most of the way there, and it is $99.
Before you book
Have your room dimensions to hand, and a few photos of each wall. If you have measurements from REW or a similar tool, send them — we will read them before we arrive so we are not spending your time on site discovering what you already know.
